Introduction

Salkantay is a snow-capped mountain situated among the highest mountains in the region of Cusco, an alternative route of the Inca trail that offers a unique experience during the trekking in the route, it is appreciated amazing landscapes as Soraypampa where we can find a campsite, and the scenery of the edge of the jungle in Santa Teresa.

Itinerary: Trek to Salkantay and Machupicchu

Day 01: Transfer airport-hotel free afternoon

At your arriving, we will be waiting for you at the airport with a warm welcoming, after we will lead you to the hotel in order to receive the accommodation. You will have free time the rest of the day.

By night we will meet you at the hotel to give you the breafing or information and all the stuff you will need to do the trekking to Salkantay.

Day 02: Rainbow mountain

This day we will pick you up very early to start our adventure of trekking, we will trip in our touristic bus 1 hour and 30 minutes approximately, to get the restaurant for having a delicious breakfast, around 8:00 am, we will continue the trip for 1 hour more to get the start point of trekking, The walk to the Rainbow mountain will last 1 hour and 30 minutes approximately, once there in the top we will be able to take many photos and enjoy the scenery, after we will descend using the same route we came to get our transport, then we will return to the restaurant to have lunch and recover energy, finally by afternoon we will return to Cusco.

Day 03: Transfer hotel – Soraypampa

Very early in the morning we will meet you in the hotel, after picking the last person in the group. We will travel around 3 hours approximately until “Mollepata” which is the start point of our trek, before that we will have a previous stop for having breakfast, the trekking will last 04 hours approximately, until the arrive of Soraypampa, once there we will accommodate our equipment, and have lunch, after we will hike up to the Humantay lake to enjoy the scenery that the lake will offer us.

Day 04: Soraypampa-Chaullay

After having breakfast, we will start our trekking to reach the top of the mountain Salkantay, that has an altitude of 4600 meters above sea level, after this point we will descend to the edge of the jungle in the route we will enjoy our lunch, continuing our adventure that will last 10 hours approximately, we will arrive our second campsite, Chaullay dinner and overnight in our camping area.

Day 05: Chaullay – Sahuayaco – Aguas Calientes

Once we rested and get energies after having our delicious breakfast we will start our adventure walking through a pathway to take our transport that will take us to the train station of Hidroelectrica from this point we will walk around three hours more finishing in Aguas Calientes town.

Day 06: Machupicchu visit and return to Cusco

This day will be the last day of our adventure, In the morning after breakfast we will go to the bus station to get our destiny the inca citadel of Machupicchu, at the access your guide will meet you to enter the site and you will have 2 hours approximately of a guiding tour.

After enjoying and taking many photos to this marvel of the new world, you will get back to the bus station to take the shuttle bus down to Aguas Calientes, by afternoon we will go to the train station to return to Cusco.

Day 07: South Valley of Cusco

This day we will enjoy the visit of the south part of Cusco, to do it our start is from the hotel at 8:40 in the morning. The first point will be Tipon followed by Pikillacta, a pleasing site of the Culture Wari, finishing with the view of the colonial Temple of Andahuaylillas, returning to the city of Cusco at 14:30 hrs.

Day 08: Free day

We recommend you to visit the center of the city, San Blas neighborhood and streets close to main plaza of Cusco.

Day 09: Moray & Maras salt mines

In the morning between 7:50 am and 8:15 am, we will pick you from your hotel, our tour begins with the visit of the textile center of Chinchero which is located 40 minutes outside of Cusco. Next step will be the visit of the archaeological center of Moray where we will observe and take photos of the circular terraces and finally we will visit Maras salt mines, all the tour will be leaded by our guide. The return to Cusco will be at 14:30 hrs. approximately.
